Where and what I ate in Bora Bora

So since you read my blog post about Bora Bora you came here to check out what I ate ;)

To be honest after doing some research of my own, most places I will tell you here you will find them in the Bora Bora guides. One place I did NOT go even though it is so famous was Bloody Mary's Restaurant. I drove by it almost every day but I am actually not sure why it is so famous...if anyone checks it out please let me know!

If you are craving Pizza, then go here to the Lucky HouseI had dinner twice there and enjoyed it very much. It has a nice atmosphere and even a pool in the in the outdoor part. The pizzas are made oldschool in a wood - fire oven and taste delicious! As shown on the picture here we shared two of their tasty pizzas. The first time we went I had a tuna tartar from the a la carte menu. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Go for seafood since it is the freshest you can get on the island.

One night TK came to pick me up from DB's place and he brought me to Vaitape. Technically this is the name of the "main city" on Bora Bora main island. You will see some Food trucks in the evening time. Here you can get creole comfort food. As shown on the picture, I ordered a salad which had fresh Tuna in coconut, tomatoes, onion, lettuce and some rice and white baguette on the side. You see the asian and french influence in their food in Bora Bora. Super cheap considering the prices on the island. Unfortunately I do not remember how much I paid for it or what my friends ate or paid. Definitely worth a trip with your scooter or car if you wann try the local food trucks.

One place where I didn't take any pictures at all from the food was Matira Beach Restaurant. I was so busy with the view from this place. The bottom picture on the left is the view I had right from my seat! I didn't even need to get up to take this pic. I just lifted my hand with my phone and click! No need for filters for this amazing view. People who were on a jet ski tour stopped here for lunch and see how clear the water is? Besides that I remember that the food and service was nice. Please go there at least for the view!

Not a restaurant nor a food truck. We were so lucky to be on a small private island that belonged to our Jet ski guide. During our jet ski trip it started to rain so we had a little stop on his island. He prepared some freshly grated coconut on sliced banana and said "This is the tahitian hot dog!" It couldn't have gotten any fresher then this. The coconut was freshly grated oldschool way on piece of wood which had a like a small blade. We enjoyed the fresh, sweet coconut juice directly from the fruit. The guide had sculputures made of sea shells laying around everywhere. It was pretty impressive. So serene and I was just enjoying the view and I couldn't comprehend where I was. You only realize then that you are so far away from the "real world".

One of my more high class experiences was surely my lunch at the four seasons hotel. I was able to take the staff ferry with my friend and we arrived at the staff entrance of the hotel. Such a beautiful hotel! We started off with cocktails at the bar. It was a cloudy, rainy day but no matter what weather, it didnt't destroy the view I had onto the famous Mount Otemanu. We then were guided to one of their restaurants to start our lunch. To be honest my favorite dish was my appetizer and the dessert. I love shrimps so the appetizer was fantastic and I love coconut so the dessert was heaven for me. Macaroons to be honest, weren't my favorite.     I definitely had better ones in Paris itself.  On one of the pictures you can see a lonely Palm tree. That actually is a small tiny bit of beach where the four seasons organizes romantic dinner for two. The waiters will serve the food by sailing on a small boat from the main hotel island to your romantic dinner table. Isn't that amazing?! I wish I would have seen that but hey, never too late to go back!

Other places that are "cheap" and accesible on the main island are:

- Aloe Cafe in Vaitape

Snack Matira right at the only public beach, Matira

Both not fancy at all but the view at Snack Matira is amazing!

Generally Bora Bora isn't cheap. I don't know about you but I looove checking out local supermarkets everywhere new I go. But Bora Bora supermarkets aren't cheap. The obvious reason is because almost everything is imported from France, Australia, New Zealand or somewhere else. So prices for those items aren't cheap. I bought basics like milk, pasta, bread, yoghurt, cheese, household things etc. and that stuff would cost me 100 Euro!!! With 100 Euro you can buy a lot in local supermarkets in Europe. Generally eating out is expensive in the luxury hotels of course, thats why you should try the main island local places to get a different experience. If you go to any of them or have been, leave your thoughts in the comment section!
