4 years I lived in this great City. I came with the intention of staying only for 1 year and never came back home. I came with no serious intention for my career and never expected meeting people
that are still present in my life and important to me until today.
I just wanted to improve my english and live abroad for a year and in Europe the closest country to do so is England.
I never been there before and did not not know anyone. I just turned 20 and was fairly shy in terms of language. First time out of "Hotel Mama" and have responsibilites and live with "flatmates" as british say. To be honest, moving to London and never coming back home was the best that could have happen to me. I grew a lot and apart of my language improvement, I had so much fun and met so many people and then finally my career became serious for me too. London became my home and it will always feel like home to me.
Not only because of the restaurant I was part of, also because of the way it changed me. I wrote a blog entry about my food experience, so just go up and click on "food blog" and you will see. Here I rather just explain how great this city is.
I started drinking English breakfast tea with milk and sugar and kept doing this until today. I have my two posters which one of them is saying "Keep calm and carry on" and the other one shows couple of pictures of central London. These posters were hanging on my room wall in New York City and currently in Singapore and will never leave me. I started experiencing independent traveling the first time in London.
Straight from St. Pancras train station (Yes Harry Potter Fans, THE St. Pancras station!) you can take a "Eurostar" train and in 2 1/2 hours you are in the heart of Paris. The Eurostar train offers many other destinations such as Brussel, Amsterdam or Avignon. It is affordable if you book with some time ahead and super convenient. I have been to Paris probably like 4 times by now and every time via train from London.
I had the chance to fly to Los Angeles to see my best friend again after many years. I got to see a little town called Christchurch in the south and enjoyed some Pimm's Lemonade pitchers with good friends by the lake. Slowly my wanderlust feeling in me started growing.
If you visit Europe, a visit in London is a must. Stroll around Oxford street (maybe not on a sunday, except if you wanna feel like sardines in a can) and do some shopping, pass by Piccadilly Circus and watch some street musicians do their show, keep walking towards Trafalgar square and have a seat to look at the people passing by from business people over tourist just like you. Keep walking towards the Big Ben and then turn left and walk towards the waterloo bridge, my favorite Bridge. You will see the London Eye on your right and Ben on your left. Walk over to the other side and enjoy the sunset. Walk all the way to the Millenium Bridge and enjoy the view. Pretty much from almost all big bridges in London you will have a fantastic view. Sometimes I just kept walking everywhere in this city cause every thing in the centre is actually quite close, less close or more depending on being on how sober you are...

Stay calm and share the love!
